Dear Andrew,

There’s not a week — no! — there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of you! I miss our walks and picture taking adventures and now you’re getting so grown up! The saddest part is that I’m missing it!

But I can’t change that so I won’t dwell. Dwell, used this way, just means I won’t think about it too much.

I like the snow. I like the way it makes the world look so fresh and clean, the way it crunches under my boot, and the way it sparkles like diamonds in the sunlight. This week, Mother Nature threw me a few snowflakes and I smiled.

I like springtime too! The snow didn’t stay around long and it got warm enough outside that I washed and hung our bedsheets on the clothesline. They smell so nice after the sun and the wind dried them.

The wildflowers are starting to bloom.

These are violets. You may have some growing in your yard too.

And if you don’t have any violets, I’m pretty sure you’ve got lots of these! Dandelions!

When I was a little girl, we used to weave them into a circle and wear them on our heads like a crown! Or you can make it longer and have a necklace of flowers.

I had brothers and they think of other things to do with dandelions like rub them on your skin and make your skin yellow! Don’t worry. It comes off after a while.

Did you know you can eat dandelion leaves? People would pick them and cook them like spinach. In the old days they didn’t have stores like we do today and dandelions were one of the first ‘greens’ to come up in the spring.

I like macaroni and cheese better! I made a big pot of it this week.

          Tiger!

          That cat!

He caught two or three mice this week — and ate them all! He ate everything from the eyeballs down to the tips of the tails! EWWWW! Maybe you have to be a cat to like that.

Tiger got a bird this week too. He got an Eastern Towhee. At first Tiger growled at me and wouldn’t let me see it but I kept begging him to let me look at it and finally he did. I never saw a Towhee before and I didn’t know they were coming to my feeders.

Tiger's a cheater. He sits under the birdfeeders and catches birds that way. He usually eats whatever he catches but he didn’t eat this bird and I don’t know why.

Andrew, I hope you have a good week this week and remember, I love you and miss you very much!

So does Pap-pap!

          Love,
