Missing You

Dear Andrew,
          I think about you all the time. I've got your pictures hanging close to my desk where I can see your handsome face all the time.
          "I think I'll write Andrew a letter today," I told Pop-pop.
          "Tell him I miss him," Pop-pop said, "and tell him I love him too."
          "I will!"
          Andrew, Pop-pop misses you and I miss you too. And we both love you very much. It makes us sad that we are so far away from you but someday, maybe, when you are much bigger, you can come and spend a couple of weeks in the summer with us.
          "MEOW!" Macchiato says. "Meow, meow. Meow meow me me meow."
          "Okay! Macchiato! I'll tell him!"
          Andrew, Macchiato wants me to tell you that he misses you too. And he also said I was to send you his picture. So here is Macchiato.


    "MEOW! Mew mew me mew!"
    "Okay!" Oh my goodness! Molly heard Macchiato and came on the run. Just in case you don't understand cat words, Molly says, "ME TOO! Tell him for me too."
          Andrew, Molly misses you too.
          "Meow?" Molly asks.
          "What?"
          "Mew mew me me mew," she says in cat speak.
          She wants me to send you her picture too!
          She sat up so pretty for you.


          All of the ruckus caused the boys to come and see what was going on. They sat very quietly until Molly was done talking to me, then they all started talking at once!
          Oh my goodness! What a noise! Have you ever heard 3 boys talking all at one time?
          "One at a time!" I told them.
          "Meow meeow mew me mew meeow ow meow," Rascal, the oldest said.
          "Meow meow!" says Spitfire.
          "Meow meow!" echoed Smudge.
          Have you got all that, Andrew?
          No? Well, let me just tell you that when the camera comes out around here everyone wants their picture taken. The boys asked me to take their picture and send it to you. They all said that they never got to meet you but just listening to Macchiato and Molly talk about you all the time, they're just sure that they would love you too. So here are the boys.
          This handsome yellow guy is Rascal.


          This tabby with a white face and white chest is his brother, Spitfire.


          And the black and white guy is their cousin Smudge.


          Andrew, it seems that everyone in this house loves and misses you!

  Dear Andrew,            There’s not a week — no! — there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of you! I miss our walks and picture taking adventures and now you’re getting so grown up! The saddest part is that I’m missing it!           But I can’t change that so I won’t dwell. Dwell, used this way, just means I won’t think about it too much.           I like the snow. I like the way it makes the world look so fresh and clean, the way it crunches under my boot, and the way it sparkles like diamonds in the sunlight. This week, Mother Nature threw me a few snowflakes and I smiled.           I like springtime too!
